1980s Cabin Time Guest Post From Natalie Walter

1980s Cabin Time

Guest post from: Natalie Walter

We went to my in-laws cabin last weekend. I always enjoy the trip to cabin because the weekend usually involves riding the boat on the lake, water skiing, sunbathing, good food, and a fun family cocktail hour. The cabin is pretty rustic. It is still decked out in the floral patterns of the late 1980’s. The carpet in the bedroom matches the curtains and is a strange shade of teal (my father in-law hates to spend money). The bathrooms also have carpet matching shag covers on the toilets. During this visit to the cabin, we noticed that they had made some small improvements to the house. They took out the clunky televisions- some even still had wood-grain and dials. They upgraded the televisions and got expert satellite. I personally thought they would have upgraded the paint, green fridge (circa 1982), and the Laura Ashley duvets before they got TV! We usually don’t watch it at the lake because we are outside most of the time, but when it rained almost all weekend I appreciated the upgrades!
