Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Swatches, Review, Pictures

As many of you already know, Urban Decay recently released several new items for their fall 2011 collection. I posted earlier about their new 24/7 liquid liners and showed all the amazing shades they come in. Also released with the fall 2011 line from Urban Decay is a limited edition palette called The Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette, which is to celebrate UD's 15th year as a makeup line.

*Also, note that I have a new post comparing The Naked Palette to The 15 Year Palette. Click the link to see how close the similar shades are and help yourself decide if you really want both palettes. : )

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette

Shades (and my descriptions of them)
  • Deeper (deep bronzed brown)
  • M.I.A (shimmery chocolate brown)
  • Ace (gunmetal)
  • Blackout (matte black)
  • Half Truth (smokey blackened grape)
  • Tainted (light pink with golden shimmer)
  • Junkshow (hot pink with purple duochrome)
  • Omen (purple with blue duochrome)
  • Evidence (shimmery navy)
  • Deep End (shimmery bright teal)
  • Midnight Rodeo (golden bronze)
  • Midnight 15 (metallic golden taupe)
  • Vanilla (cream with gold shimmer)
  • Flow (warm peach with gold shimmer)
  • Chase (warm gold).

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette

Are you ready for the info on this palette? It includes 15 full size eyeshadow, all of which are brand new, never before released shades that UD says will not be released again anytime soon. So if you love these shades, definitely grab the palette as soon as you see it because it will sell out quickly (it sold out on the urban decay site the first day, but ulta, sephora, and beauty.com will be selling it as well. I've heard sephora stores will stock them on the 31st of July). You can also sign-up to get on the wait list for a palette at the Urban Decay website.

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette Velvet Box

So back to the palette itself. Here is where it gets special, the palette comes in an intricate metal box that is encrusted with the letters UD in gems ontop. The box itself is inside a pretty, deep purple, velvet box. When you open the palette, you will see the 15 shadows in all of their glory, ranging from neutrals to brights to smokey shades. Those who don't like a bulky palette will love this part, you can lift the 15 shadows out of the box if you'd like, and under the shadows is another velveted area so you can keep your pretty little box to store jewelry and other makeup well after you've used up the shadows. The lid of the box also has a full sized mirror inside it, just make sure to take off the plastic coating.

Here's the downfall of the packaging. While it is a beautiful darkened silver, almost mirror like box, your finger prints will stick to it like no other. Mine is already covered in prints. And just a tip, if you try to wash it or wipe off the prints, they will just smear into one big mess : (

Evidence, Blackout, Chase, Deep End, Half Truth

Now, what everyone is wanting to know, what about the shadows? The shadows are gorgeous. You have a very pretty highlight shade called vanilla, a couple of lighter creamy beiges, a few smokey shades with sparkles, a matte black, a purple with blue and pink duochrome, a couple darker browns, a gold, a peach, a beautiful and bright teal and even more. There's pretty much something for everyone.
Midnight Rodeo, Tainted, Deeper, Midnight 15, Junkshow, M.I.A

The only flaw I can think of in this palette shade wise is the big lack of mattes. The only matte shade is the black, which pretty much everyone already has a matte black, right? I mean, it will still come in handy because most people go through their matte blacks very quickly, but still, I would have liked to have at least one bright matte color and one or two matte neutrals. Don't get me wrong, I love glitter and shimmer, I just feel for a special 15 year palette, they should have included all textures.

However, the shade range is pretty decent. I love that they threw in the neutrals, a couple brights and the duochrome. The texture of the majority of the shadows is very creamy. There were a couple that felt a little gritty, vanilla being one of those, but it is still a gorgeous highlight shade either way.

Ace, Flow, Evidence, Blackout, Chase, Deep End, Half Truth

The only shade I had trouble getting to show up, which I think may be due to the fact that I'm pale and it almost blends in to my skin, is Tainted. Has anyone else had trouble with this shade? I think I will try using it under a nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil and see if that helps it. But other than that shade, they are all super pigmented.  I found that the shade M.I.A is the most pigmented of them all with Chase not being too far behind. Both of those shades only take one small touch with the brush to cover your entire eyelid.

Tainted, Deeper, Junkshow, M.I.A, Vanilla, Omen

I was a little shocked we didn't get any 24/7 liner pencils, a brush, a gloss or some other little extra, seeing as how all most all the other palettes come with one or the other. That isn't a big deal, but I wanted to mention in it just in case you assumed you'd be getting a couple eyeliners with it.

Also, note that these are FULL SIZED shadows, which would have cost almost $300 if they were sold with the other individual shades at $17 a piece, so you are getting a bargain even though the palette is priced at $55. Plus, you get the beautiful keepsake box and shades that you won't be able to get anywhere else. I think it's really worth the $55 price tag.

COMMENT TIME!

New Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliners for Fall 2011 Pictures & Info

Urban Decay has just released their new makeup collection for Fall 2011! The new collection includes a limited edition eyeshadow palette, new liquid eyeliners, mascara, eyelashes and even more.

Urban Decay says, " These draw liquid lines so sharp they could cut glass. Our slender brush lays down long-lasting matte, slick and shimmery shades sure to satisfy your color lust. Achieve clean, sharp WATERPROOF lines with shocking ease. The newest addition to our 24/7 franchise is available in a veritable rainbow of long-lasting, highly-pigmented, WATERPROOF color options – shades ranging from matte to glossy to shimmery! (And why would you only buy one? Try them all!) Use the ultra-fine brush tip to create lines that are razor-thin or thick, even and bold. The brush is also short and easy to control, making it ideal for liquid liner newbies. The slim pens are convenient – go ahead and pack ‘em all into your makeup bag – and are color-matched to each shade."

24/7 pencils liners may just be one of the things that Urban Decay is most famous for. If you have used them, you know they are creamy, colorful, amazingly pigmented, and don't budge or smudge from your eyes. For fall, the company is releasing a liquid version of their popular waterproof 24/7 liners in several bright shades. How exciting is that?

Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner Shades include:
  • Bobby Dazzle - A white/silver with Iridescent sparkles
  • Demolition - Deep Matte Brown
  • El Dorado - Yellow Gold with Golden Sparkles
  • Perversion - Carbon black
  • Radium - Bright Blue with Silver Sparkles
  • Retrograde - Dark Purple with Purple Sparkles
  • Revolver - Dark Grey with Iridescent Sparkles
  • Sabbath - Deep, Matte Navy
  • Siren - Teal with Blue Duochrome
  • Smog - Deep Bronzed Brown with Golden Sparkles and Iridescent Shimmer
  • Woodstock - Hot Pink with Iridescent Sparkles

I'm soo excited for these! It's kind of funny actually, a couple days ago I posted on Urban Decay's facebook saying they needed a hot pink, liquid liner. Well, my request has already been granted! haha :D  I can't wait to try out Woodstock as well as Retrograde.

Urban Decay's other liquid liners are my absolute favorite, so I can't wait to try the new ones out. I actually just purchased several of the older liquid liners last week during their friends and family sale, so be sure to check back for swatches of those as well.

Who will like the Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liners?
  • Those who are fans of bright colors
  • People who loved the previous UD pencil and liquid liners
  • Those who want budge proof liners
  • People who like adding a pop of color to their look
  • Honestly, I think almost everyone will like these.

Who won't like the UD 24/7 Liners?
  • These are a tad pricey, $18, so bargain hunters may not be a fan of the price tag. But UD is know for amazing quality, so you may still like them anyway.

So what do you think of the new 24/7 liquid liners? Which shades would you buy? Are you a fan of Urban Decay's other liquid or pencil liners? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think!

Thanks so much for reading. Be sure to check back later for Urban Decay swatches as well swatches of the highly sought-after Urban Decay 15 year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Swatches ( I managed to purchase it before it sold out, woo! :D )
