Elf Studio Cream Gel Liners Punk Purple & Teal Tease Swatches, Pictures, Review

ELF STUDIO LINERS - ELF TEAL TEASE SWATCHES, ELF PUNK PURPLE SWATCHES
Elf has added some new shades to their Studio cream/gel liners. One is a beautiful Teal with golden shimmers called Teal Tease. The other is Punk Purple, a deep violet with purple shimmer. Below are the swatches of Teal Tease and Punk Purple.

ELF Teal Tease, ELF Punk Purple

I'm in love with Teal Tease. The product photo on the website for Teal Tease is surprisingly accurate. Actually, I think the color is even better in person. It's an extremely bright aqua, blue/green color with beautiful teal and golden shimmers throughout it. The texture is very smooth and it has great pigmentation. I didn't have any problems with the liner rubbing off, so staying power is pretty good as well.

ELF Teal Tease, ELF Punk Purple Swatches

Punk Purple is much darker and  isn't as bright purple as it is pictured on the ELF website. It looks much prettier in the container than it actually does on the skin. But I do still like the shade. I was expecting more of a bright "punk" purple, but this is a deeper purple with purple shimmers.

Overall, I enjoy the Elf Cream Liners and you should definitely check out Teal Tease.

Summer Neon Rainbow Eyeshadow Tutorial

Hi everyone! I've been in the mood to create a bright, summery neon kind of look for awhile now. I took inspiration from rainbows, sunshine and sunsets for this look : )

Here are my step-by-step instructions for the neon summer rainbow eyeshadow tutorial. Hope you enjoy it!

1. Apply an eye primer to keep your shadows from creasing. You don't want to do all this hard work and have creases an hour later, right? Of course not.
  • I used Covergirl Intense Liquid Shadow Blast Primer in Beige Bling
    • I first dabbed the color all over the lid, then simply blended the color out all over with my ring finger.

    2.  Apply a colored, sticky base to further intensify shadows. Since we are wanting something almost neon bright, a colored base will help to intensify the shadows even more than a primer alone.

    • I used NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils in Milk (white) and Hot Pink.
      • I dabbed Milk from the inner corner of my eye to the middle of the lid and then blended it out with my ring finger. I then dabbed hot pink from the middle of the lid to the outer corner and blended. You'll want the pink where you will placing the pink shadows and the white where you'll place the yellow.

      3. Apply a bright, yellow shadow from the inner corner to the middle of the eyelid using a fluffy eyeshadow brush.
      • I used NYX Yellow Funk single eyeshadow. I dabbed my brush into the shadow and gently patted the color on-top of the white eyeshadow base.

        4. Apply a light orange and a dark orange shadow from the center of the lid to about 3/4ths of the way from the outer corner shade, leaving room for the pinks.
        • I used two oranges from the 88 Matte Palette (which can be found from Coastal Scents, BH Cosmetics, Ebay). Starting with the lighter orange, I slightly overlapped the yellow shade, which will create a gradient from the yellow to the orange. Next, take the darker orange and slightly overlap the light orange giving the same gradient effect. When the colors seem to blend in together and there aren't any obvious lines between the shades, it's time for the next color.

          4. Apply a hot, neon pink and a darker pink to the remaining portion of the lid and outer corner.
          • I used the hot pink in the 88 Matte Palette. Start by overlapping the orange a bit and blending the line. Cover the rest of the lid and outer corner.

            5. Take a magenta (purple-toned pink) on a fluffy blending brush and apply this into your crease and outer corner.
            • I used the magenta shade in the 88 Matte Palette. Use a fluffy blending brush to apply this shade to the crease. This shade will act as your blender, which will buff away all the harsh lines at the top of the other shades. Bring it into your outer corner as well to darken it up a bit.

            6. Take your NYX pencil in Milk again, and apply it as a highlight to the upper brow bone and inner corner.
            •  Dab the NYX Milk to the upper brown bone, which will give your eye some lift. Also apply it to your inner corner and near your nose, which will make your eyes appear more awake and open.

              7. Take a matte, white eyeshadow and place it over the NYX Milk you just applied.
              • I used the matte white in the 88 Matte Palette. Placing this over the NYX Milk will help to set it in place. Having the NYX pencil underneath the white helps intensify the shade as well as makes it last longer.

                8. Use a neon, acid green liner on the upper lash line
                • I used Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Acid Rain. Apply the liner from the inside corner and out past your lash liner, slightly winging it out and up.

                  9. Take a black gel liner and line your bottom waterline.
                  • I used Physicians Formula gel liner. Spread the liner onto the waterline and smudge it out into the bottom lashes, creating a smokey effect. Then, take the liner up to the winged out portion of the neon green liner. Don't overlap the liners, place the black underneath the green.

                    10. Take a teal gel liner and smudge it underneath the black
                    • I used the ELF Studio liner in Teal Tease. Apply a small amount underneath the black on the lower lash line and smudge it out a bit as well. You can then set the liners with similar colored eyeshadows, so they will last longer.

                      11. Apply two coats of mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
                      • I used Maybelline The Falsies Flared

                        12. Finally, use an eyebrow pencil to fill in your eye brows.
                        • I used Avon Premium Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde (of course, use whichever color or product you find matches your brows the best) It's very important to groom and fill-in your brows, especially if they are light like mine, because the brows frame your eyes and pull the entire look together.

So there is my tutorial on how to duplicate my neon summer rainbow look. You can of course substitute other brands and other colors to make it your own, or duplicate it exactly if you wish. I hope everyone enjoyed the look!

The Master List For Professional Makeup Artist Kits: Which Products to Stock

The Master List for Professional Makeup Artist Kits By: Glamatronic.Net

Hi everyone! I've put together a master list of beauty items you'd need to have for a professional makeup artist kit. There are tons of suggestions for basic makeup kits, but not as many for those are just starting out as a makeup artist or for those who are taking steps to become more professional. Whether you're an aspiring makeup artist or just a makeup addict who wants an amazing kit for yourself and friends, here's the key items you'll want.

                        -Skin Care Section-
                        • Makeup Removers
                        • Cleansers, Astringent and Toner
                        • Moisturizer
                        • Sunscreen
                        • Makeup Wipes
                        • Benadryl Creams in case a client has an allergic reaction to products

                        -Foundations-
                        • You'll want a variety of colors and make sure to pack a pure white and an extremely dark shade in case you have to mix colors together to get a perfect match for your client
                        • You'll want all finishes of foundation, cream, creame to powder, liquid, mineral, powder.
                        • Make sure you have undertones covered as well. You need to have both warm, neutral and cool-toned shades. If you are on a budget, invest in a red, blue and yellow mixing color which will allow you to adjust the undertone to fit the client.
                        • *Also, tinted moisturizers and BB Creams are great alternatives for clients who don't like foundations.

                        -Powders-
                        • You'll want to bring both loose and pressed powders, as well as HD powders.
                        • Pack shades from translucent, fair, light, medium and dark. Also be sure to have a yellow, yellow/pink to adjust undertones if needed.

                        -Concealers-
                        • Be sure to bring creme, gel, and pencil forms of concealers.
                        • Colors needed: Green and Yellow to cancel out redness, Salmon and orange tones to cover up blues and dark circles.
                        • Make sure to pack a heavy concealer and tracing pencil for tattoo cover-ups (it's best to ask beforehand if your client will need tattoos covered)

                        -Highlighters-
                        • For highlighters, bring both creams/liquids and powders
                        • Shades should range from pearl, coral, golds and yellows.

                        -Bronzers & Contour-
                        • Powders, Cremes, Liquids
                        • Colors Needed:
                          • Light browns, taupes, bronzes, gold, medium browns, dark browns in both mattes and shimmers, and in both cool, warm, and neutral tones.

                        -Cheeks-

                        •  Bring powders, creme, gel, mousse, or stains
                        • Have a large variety of shades available
                          • apricot, beige, taupe, coral, pink, orange, red, mauves, plums, bronze

                        -Lips-

                        • You will need pencils, glosses, lipsticks, balms, stains and tints. It's sometimes best to invest in a palette for lipsticks and blams, or perhaps melt down your stick form shades into a pan for convenience.
                        • Colors Needed:
                          • Pinks, Reds, Mauves, Nudes, Browns, Corals, Oranges. It's also nice to have primary colors (blue, red, yellows) and also, a black and a white, which will allow you to custom mix the perfect shades.

                        -Eyeshadows-
                        • Pressed Powders, Pigments, Creams, Liquids
                        • Colors: It's best to invest in larger palettes when first beginning to make sure you have all the shades you need. Buy a couple neutral palettes, a few bright palettes, a primary colors palettes, and a smokey palette.
                        • Finishes: Make sure to have a variety of finishes from glitters, satins, mattes, shimmers, pearls, metallics, etc
                        • You may also want a few loose glitters that are eye safe and cosmetic grade.
                        • ***Important Note/ Random Tip*** If buying from some independent makeup companies, make sure each shade is FDA approved for the area of the face you intend to use it on. (For example, some companies are selling neon pink, glow in the dark eyeshadows, but they are NOT FDA approved for eye use.) So if you intend on using it for lips, eyes, cheeks, etc, make sure you find out before purchasing it is approved that use. Major companies must pass inspections before selling cosmetics, indie sellers aren't required to do this, so if a client has a bad reaction to a product you used and it was not approved for use in the area you used it on, you may be held responsible.

                        -Eyeliners-
                        • Liquids, Gels, Pencils, Powders
                        • Stock tons of blacks and quite a few browns, blues and whites
                          • You'll also want some fun, bright colors like teals, purples, pinks, orange, etc. (Make Up For Ever has amazing liquid liners in tons of shades)
                        • *Tip* If you don't have a particular liner shade, you can always use use a bit of mixing medium with a colorful shadow or pigment to turn it into a liner.

                         -False Lashes-
                        • Bring an assortment of styles and sizes
                        • Colors: Most people prefer black, but also keep some browns stocked
                        • Styles: Short, Long, Natural, Dramatic, Half Lashes, Individual Lashes, Cat Eyed or Angled Lashes (fuller and/or longer in the outer corners), Full, Demis, Wispies.
                          • It will help to ask beforehand about lashes in-case the client wants something special, overly dramatic, or a specific style
                        •  Bring Clear, Duo adhesive, eyelash glue and individual eyelash glue. Be sure to keep a non latext glue on hand for clients with latex allergies.

                        -Mascaras-

                        • Bring both cakes and liquids in browns, blacks and clear.
                        • You may also want to keep a couple of fun colors such as purple or teal

                        -Eyebrows-
                        • Fillers in Pencils, Gels and Powders.
                        • Shades:
                          • Blonde, dark blonde, red blonde, ash, light brown, medium brown, brown, light auburn, dark auburn, dark brown, black
                        • Also bring a highlighting pencil, both a shimmery pearl and a matte white to matte beige pencil to add lift underneath the arch of the brows

                        Sanitary Items and Miscellaneous
                        • Hand Sanitizer
                        • Disenfecting Wipes
                        • Individual disposable mascara wands and gloss wands
                        • Cotton Swabs with pointed and flat ends (to clean up mistakes easily and accurately)
                        • Cotton Balls
                        • Eyelash Curler
                        • Oil Blotting Sheets - Rice Papers
                        • Disposable Sponges
                        • A Color Wheel (will come in handy if you need to mix colors together)

                         -Brushes-
                        • The best thing to do here would be to invest in a great quality, complete brush kit. You'll be using and washing these constantly, and will want brushes that not only will last you the longest, but that will feel smooth and soft on your clients face, eyes, and body. ( I suggest checking out Sigma Makeup Brush Kits, which are not only great quality, but inexpensive compared to most other professional grade brushes. )
                        • You can also want to look into purchasing a complete face kit and complete eye kit separately, which usually will give you better options.
                        • If you can't find a kit with everything you are wanting, you can always purchase brushes separately at a variety of locations as well. Sigma Makeup and Crown Brush both have a variety of brushes available, I recommend the synthetic sets from Crown for cheaper options, but Sigma is still the best option and most durable of the two.
                        • IMPORTANT NOTE! You'll want to make sure to keep synthetic brushes on-hand for people who may have allergies to animal hair bristles and for your clients who are vegan or have a stance against animal testing. (A lot of people won't mind natural haired bristles, but always be prepared with synthetic brushes as well because you want to make sure your customers are happy. I like synthetic brushes better anyway because they seem to keep their shape better after washing.)

So there is my breakdown of all the basics you will need for a Professional Makeup Artist Kit. If you are wanting to make a jump from doing makeup on friends and family, to branching out into freelancing, this list should provide you with most of the basics you will be needing. Feel free to customize the specifics by your preferences, of course, and you can feel free to print this list out you think it will help you later. : )

Also, here is a quick list of Makeup Brands I recommend and specific products from each line I love. Each brand has hits and misses as far as products, if you'd like a more in depth list of specific products that are standouts from each brand, just comment below and let me know.

MAC Jealousy Wakes Swatches, Pictures, Review - MAC Hocus Pocus Swatches, Pictures Revew (MAC Bloggers Obsession Eyeshadows)

Hello readers! Today I'm showing you some lovely pictures of the MAC Blogger's Obsession Collection. I have for you MAC Hocus Pocus eyeshadow and MAC Jealousy Wakes swatches and pictures.

MAC Jealousy Wakes & MAC Hocus Pocus

First off, Jealousy Wakes eyeshadow, which was created by Christine of Temptalia, is a mid-toned green with gorgeous green and golden sparkles in it. It has a veluxe pearl finish and feels very smooth, yet it does leave a little bit of crumbly fallout, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure that has to do with the specific shades of greens it took to make this shadow, but it's still pretty either way. Here are the pictures and swatches of Jealousy Wakes.

***Be sure to click on each picture for a much closer and better quality view (you can see all the gorgeous glitter this way).***

Swatch of MAC Hocus Pocus & MAC Jealousy Wakes Swatch
As you can see from the swatches above, they are not extremely pigmented, but you can build the colors up very well. I wanted to give you an accurate swatch of what one swipe of the colors looked liked. Of course, the colors look very vivid and pigmented with around three to four swipes.

Next we have Hocus Pocus, which is described as a gray with green glitter. To me, it looks more like a grayed taupe with hints of brown undertones in the pan. It also has very pretty bronze and green glitter specks. Most websites pictures of this shadow are inaccurate as they make Hocus Pocus look almost pure gray in the pan. It isn't and looks almost exactly as it does in my pictures here, in the pan, as it does in person, which is more of a browned gray with lots of shimmers. Below is a picture of MAC Hocus Pocus. Please click on the pictures for the close-up view to get a more accurate look.

                        MAC Hocus Pocus Eyeshadow

My review on the shadows is that they are each very gorgeous colors both in the pan and when built-up on the eyes. Each has a smooth texture, with Hocus Pocus being the smoothest. Jealousy Wakes does have a bit of fallout, mainly at the end part where you pick up your brush, but it's not too bad. I think most people will enjoy each shadow. Also, jealousy Wakes is a very unique color, making it hard to find a dupe and another reason to snatch-up if you can find it. The green sparkles in Hocus Pocus also makes it unique as well.

So there you have it. Swatches of the highly-sought-after Bloggers Obsession eyeshadows, Jealousy Wakes and Hocus Pocus. What do you think of them? Did you pick-up these or any of the other items from the Blogger's Obsession Collection? Leave a comment below and let us know!

Thanks so much for reading! Be sure to check back later for a possible tutorial using Jealousy Wakes and Hocus Pocus and... I may be having a contest where I will be giving away... the sold out Jealousy Wakes eyeshadow. Yes, I bought a spare just for you guys. :)

NOTD - Nails of the Day / Week - Featuring Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and KISS Nail Stickers

This week's NOTD are a nice, golden shade with flowers, butterflies and little gems from KISS and Sally Hansen.

                        List of Products Used:
                        • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 310, Gilty Pleasure
                        • KISS Nail Art Stickers (Flowers and Butterflies)
                        • Seche Vite Topcoat

I recently went to a friend's wedding and my dress was gold and black, so I decided to some pretty, matching, golden nails for the day.If you are looking for an idea for summer wedding party nails or have a similar event coming up, here's how to get similar nails:

                        How To Get These Nails:
                        •  Clean and prep you nails for the nail polish. If you have any ridges or rough places, use a nail buffer to smooth your nails out. Optional:Also use a base coat if you want your polish to last the longest possible
                        • Start with two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in #310 Gilty Pleasure or any similar golden nail polish.

                        • Add some cute nail decals or some sort of nail art. The ones I used here are butterfly and flower decal with little gems from the brand Kiss.

                        • Finally, apply a good topcoat to ensure the stickers and/or nail art will stay put. Here I used three coats of Seche Vite Topcoat.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to check back later for more nails of the day/week. :)
