LA Colors 5 Color Metallic Eyeshadow Palette in Soiree, Ocean Breeze Review, Swatches Pictures

I picked up a couple of LA Colors 5 Pan Metallic Eyeshadow Palettes in the colors Soiree(pinks & purples) and Ocean Breeze(teals). I found these at Rue21 for $2.99. Also, be sure to check your dollar trees and other dollar stores for LA Color Palettes because some people often find them there. They can also be found for $3 on Cherry Culture.Com in a wide array of shade selections.

First off, I have to that the main reason I chose the soiree palette was because it had tons of shimmery glitter on top that were almost as sort of duochrome glitter. I swatched them and was very happy with the shimmer, until I realized that the glitter was overspray and the color underneath had none of the beautiful glitter in it. I was extremely disappointed since that was my entire reason for picking this palette. The colors are decently pigmented for the price, but the colors were quite similar after the glitter was gone. However, if you are a big fan of magentas and pink/purples, you may really like having slightly different variations of the shades.

Ocean breeze contains a shimmery white, two teals, one purple and a silver. The colors are again, decently pigmented for the price and I like this palette much more than the soiree palette. If you are looking for some inexpensive teals, this may be a good option for you.

Overall, I think these are okay palettes and very inexpensive. I was just really disappointed about the glitter overspray in Soiree. Also, the packaging was all scratched up and it was like that on every single palette in the store, so I thought that was a bit weird since they were new, sealed palettes from a store.

Have you tried any LA Colors Eyeshadows? What do you think of them?

New NYX HD Mascaras for Spring 2011

New NYX High Definition Mascaras

NYX has recently release a ton of new products for their amped up High Definition line of makeup. These products are a bit prices than the normal products, but they promise to be higher quality and of course, high def.

Propel My Eyes mascara promises to propel your lashes to new heights, offering to lift lashes, intensify, condition and separate for an even distribution. The results? Super long, clump-free, gorgeous lashes. $13

NYX Fly With Me mascara promises to intensify lashes 100x. With this boldy black formula , make your lashes infinitely long for an extreme coverage and thickness. The sky is the limit. This brush has a unique shape with the end being very thick, round and full, so it will be easier to define the outer edges of your lashes. $13

NYX Grow Lash Mascara has several claims. The company says the mascara is dual purposes. Get the look of long and full lashes while conditioning your lash to grow thicker, fuller and more beautiful. Their Pro-Grow products are advanced, non-irritating natural formulations that promote the growth and healthy appearance of the eyelashes and eyebrows creating a fuller, thicker more beautiful look.

Results =
• Long and full lash mascara with “Grow Lash Serum” helps lashes grow stronger while instantly adding visible volume and length to create a thicker, fuller, more beautiful look
• Peptide, copper and arginine work at the lash root to strengthen thin, brittle lashes while biotin and panthenol condition, nourish and protect overall
• Non-irritating formula is smudge- proof and semi- waterproof, will last all day

Have you or are you going to try any of the NYX mascaras? I'm a bit sad they cost more than the usual NYX products, but hopefully they will make up for the price in quality. What do you think of NYX products in general? They are personally one of my favorite brands. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think.

ELF Shimmer Lip Gloss Collection Set Pictures, Review

ELF Essentials Shimmer Lip Gloss Collection

ELF says, "Shimmer and shine with this dazzling assortment of Shimmer Glosses. Mix and match colors to create your own custom blended shade or pick your favorite individual color to reflect your personal style. The satin smooth formula glides on easily to instantly hydrate lips for a beautiful long-lasting shine."

Collection includes the following shimmer gloss colors:
          • Victoria
          • Miami
          • Pink
          • Houston
          • New York City

First off, I'm sure you're all wondering, 'Are these the minty glosses from the studio collection?' No, these aren't the studio mint glosses. These are the same formula as the ELF Super Glossy Lip Shines in the squeeze tube, but they have added extra sparkle and a new scent. I actually really love the scent of these. It's a really yummy, berry fruit kind of smell.

The quality of these are okay. They aren't overly sticky, but they do have a weird texture, the same texture as the super glossy gloss from the $1 line. These are really sheer. I really had no reason to show you swatches, because they all show up clear on your hand with just a bit of sparkle. But if you layer on three or four layers, you will get a color similar to the color you see in the tube. However, if you put that many layers of gloss on it can be a bit messy.

The packaging is really cute. The box is a creamy white with flower designs on the edges and a hot pink background. The gloss has a sleek container similar to studio line products, but with dollar products inside. I can't help but wonder, though, were they trying to trick people into thinking these were the studio minty glosses? Not only is the packaging and color the same, but they even used city names similar to the studio glosses. I think the sleek packing is nice and all, but not if the reason for it was to make customers think they were getting something they weren't.

The price is, as always, an amazing deal. Five glosses for $4.99, you really can't beat that. Even if these are rather sheer, they can put over lipsticks to make them shimmer and shine, and like I said, I love the smell, so you can use them to cover the scent of an unpleasantly smelling lipstick.

Also, I found this kit at Target along with several other ELF Kits in cute spring/summer packaging. They even have some of the mineral collection available, which is my favorite line from ELF. I bought a few of the duo collections to show you guys and have those ready and swatched. They will be posted soon.

Overall, I think these glosses are good for the price. If you are looking for a sheer, shimmery gloss that smells fruity/sweet and is really inexpensive, this may be the gloss for you. If you are wanting a more opaque gloss and don't like berry/fruity smells, you will want to pass on these.

Forever21 Eyelashes Pictures, Review and a cute Panda Necklace

          Forever21 Panda Necklace
Forever21 recently had a day, shortly after the Japan Disaster, where they donated 100% of your order total to Red Cross Japan. I decided this would be the perfect time to order and make a donation.

Forever21 has been uping their game in the beauty department and have added several different styles of false lashes and makeup. I picked out a couple pairs to try and see if they are good quality and look the same as they do on the website. The pairs I chose are Modgirl and Rockstar.

Modgirl false eyelashes are very long and each 'lash' splits out into two lashes at the band. These look really neat and not like any other lashes I have. They have a super glamorous, girly look to them.

The Rockstar fake lashes kind of remind me of the NYX 111 lashes, but with color. They have strands of plum and navy mixed in with the black. However, these colors don't look completely strange, the colors are subdued enough to look fun, but not crazy. It's kind of similar to colored mascara, you can't tell until you get really close that they are purple and blue. I really love these and probably would have ordered more if I would have known they were this cute.

There are several other different styles on the Forever21 website to choose, from date lashes, voluminous lashes, crisscross lashes, and more. The best thing I've found is that their falsies are really unique. Each pair costs only $2.80, and these can be reused. If you want some lashes that look different from most drugstore lashes, but still at the bargain drugstore prices, you should check these out.

I purchased a few other things, but what I really wanted to show everyone is this cute panda necklace. I've been wanting a panda necklace for awhile, but most of them were short necklaces of a tiny outlined panda. This is a panda face encrusted with faux diamond and on a 22inch chain and is only $5. Here's a look of the Forever21 panda necklace

Isn't that just the cutest thing? It should still be available on the website and in stores because I just now received this. If not, they have a ton of other cute necklaces to choose from.

What do you think of forever21 eyelashes, have you tried them out? Are you a fan of their jewelry? Leave a comment below and let us know.

$7 Dupe for Too Faced Natural Eye Palette? Rue 21 Natural Eye Palette Swatches, Pictures, Review

Too Faced Natural Eye Kit Dupe - Rue21 Natural Eye Kit Swatches, Pictures, Review and Comparison

If you are fan of the Too Faced eyeshadow kits or you've always wanted to try one, you have to see this. Rue21 has made a knockoff version of the Too Faced Natural Eye Kit. How much is this knockoff version? $6.99, for real. With the Too Faced palette ringing in at $35, the Rue21 palette seems to be the better choice considering it looks virtually the same. But, is there a big difference in quality? All of the pictures swatches have Too Faced shadows on the top and Rue21 on the bottom.

The first row in each palette looks almost identical in the pan, but when swatched, the last shade in this row is pretty different. The too faced shade, Sexspresso, is darker and more pigmented than the Rue21 shade, Boardwalk. The other two shades are pretty similar. The texture of the Too Faced shadows in this row are super smooth and the Rue21 shadows are pretty smooth as well.

In the second row, the first and last shades look different in the pans. The first shade is actually really similar, but the Too Faced shade, Silk Teddy, is much more shiney. The last shade is really different because the Too Faced version is a bit more warm and contains golden specks of glitter. The Rue21 shade for this color just has a shimmery finish and no golden specks can be seen. Texture wise, the first Rue21 shade, Rising Tides, is a bit crumbly, whereas the Too Faced shadow is not.

The first and last shades in third row look really different in the pans. The first Too Faced shade, Nude Beach, has chunky specks of glitter in it, whereas the Rue21 shade has no glitter. The Rue21 shade, Sand Dune, is another crumbly shade, so you have to dust it off to avoid fallout. The second shades are pretty similar, with Rue21 being a bit more orange. The last shades are really different. The Too Faced shade, Cocoa Puff, isn't as warm as it's Rue21 counterpart and it also has specks of glitter that the Rue21 color, Chocolate Ice Cream, does not.

Each kit comes with a brush. The Too Faced Brush is black and pink, has a foamy sponge tip on one side, and a soft, stiff angled brush on the other side. The angled brush could be quite usable for eyeliner or filling in eyebrows, but I've honestly never used it. The Rue21 palette has two applicators, but these are really not usable at all. The sponge-tip has a rough plastic-like feel, rather than a soft sponge, and the brush end doesn't have bristles, it's again, plastic and scratchy. But most people are probably going to use an eyeshadow brush to apply anyway, right?

The Rue21 palette has pretty decent pigmentation for the price. The pigmentation for the Too Faced is a bit better. The texture for the shadows in the Rue21 kit varies from shade to shade, but most of them are decent. The one main downfall I find with the Rue21 eyeshadow is that it has a very strong makeup type of smell. The Too Faced palette has no smell at all. Also, the Too Faced palette offers directional cards with diagrams on how to achieve three different looks, while the Rue21 Natural Eye Palette has just a very simple sentence imprinted on-top of the box for one look.
Now, overall would I recommend this palette? Yes, I think it's a good palette for the price and a nice alternative for those who don't want to spend $35 on the Too Faced palette. I think it could be a nice alternative to the Urban Decay Naked palette as well.

Again, it's not an exact dupe for either palette, but there are some huge similarities and an even bigger price difference. Despite the huge price difference, there isn't a huge difference in quality. The Too Faced palette is better quality, but the Rue21 palette is pretty decent, especially for the low price range that it's in. If you were hoping this would be an exact dupe, you are out of luck, but the colors are really very similar and I think most people would like them. So if you want to save a few bucks, check out the Rue21 Natural Eye Kit, for only seven dollars, I don't think you're going to be disappointed.

What do you think of these palettes? Have you tried either of them? Do you think you'll pick up the Rue21 Palette? Leave a comment below and let us know.
